“Art has the power and mystery to connect us to our common humanity”

Hello and thanks for visiting my website.

Annie McCarron M.A. B.F.A. T.P.A.T.

Bio……Annette Miles-McCarron is an established artist who works from her rural studio in Kangaroo Valley. Her work has a bold creative reach of mediums and subjects.  A bachelor of Fine arts degree from the National Art School, training in Transpersonal Art Therapy, and an M.A. in Buddhist studies all inform her exploration of a rich art practice. She has exhibited extensively in group shows and furnished many private homes with commissioned works.

Primarily she aims to capture work that doesn’t announce itself obviously,  that can linger between the known and unknown, creating an illusory quality. Her intuitive use of colour, love of travel, nature and life, provide a rich tapestry of a slightly disordered realism in her paintings.

Her objective is to record, reflect, and respond to the world, to create a hint of mystery for the viewer. Each painting is a stepping stone in her exploration of her art practice and development, a silent dialogue of attention and intention.

Artist Statement

In my final year majoring as a mature painter at art school, I fractured my right arm, wrist and hand. I had to pack away my heavy kit of oils and boards and attempt to continue my studies with paper, watercolours and a shaky left hand. It was a gift.

I learned what honest mark-making is. No longer the inner critic shouted in my ear ‘imposter’ A new voice, my inner artist, cheered me on, congratulating me when I formed the outline of the model’s form with some raw vulnerability and beauty.

It’s exciting to me still, wondering what the brush and paint with intuition and sensitivity will reveal.
