This is me….. on one of my many travels to the USA.

Artist' Statement

Lightning strikes occur around the earth about 50 times every second. creating a low-frequency repeating beat. Encompassing the globe creating weather and seasonal patterns on the earth and willing a thriving planet for life. This is the rhythm of the earth's heartbeat.  Rhythm is an integral component of many different forms of art and expression. I especially feel this sense of rhythm over the skies and landscape when flying. Seeing the land’s massing with distant horizons both coming into view and receding, emphasises the passing of time and nature’s bustle. I hope my paintings stimulate a sense of deep listening to consider the rhythm of a heartbeat that all of nature shares.

 My work aims to capture the fun form and colour of my world. What feeds my curiosity .The shadows and luminosity of the natural world, seeking to explore the beauty and surprise of what is real and abstracted. Random colourful characters that beam light.

 My work varies in exploration of all mediums and subjects. I relish working with watercolour paints, washing and glazing and pushing the paper to its limit, hoping for blessed blunders that either make or break a painting. It’s immediate and exciting to watch the paint run across the paper and allows a freedom that when I am steadily working with oils and encaustics, cannot match.

The Creature portraits are a mix of images and abstract forms I hope will communicate a tender potency and that the allegorical pieces will nudge the viewers imaginary world.

My work endeavours to capture the ambience and impression that accompanies each creature, animal, tree or person, that quality or atmosphere each one of us has yet we can never know of ourselves.'

BIO

Annie has exhibited in The Regent St Gallery, The See Street Gallery, Sheffer Gallery, Eurobodalla Gallery, National Art School, the Waverley Woollahra Arts Centre, The Shoalhaven Regional Art Gallery the ART PASSAGE in MIranda, the MIlk Factory in Bowral and The Space Gallery in Kingswood. She also exhibits regularly with the Kangaroo Valley local artists group shows…Her work is in many private collections. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, an M.A in Buddhist studies. and is a qualified Art Therapist. She lives in Kangaroo Valley with her husband Bob where she welcomes family and friends and plays every day in her studio.
